E. MULIER & MARGARET CHALLENGER An Alphabet Story (NP), 2000. (30) ff. One of an edition of 20 copies. An illuminated manuscript alphabet based on E. Mulier's "Lettres Art Nouveau." The text is the traditional "A apple pie, B bit it, C cut it" etc. Three apple seeds in a cellophane envelope are tipped-in at the end, with the original grocer's sticker from the apple. This clever ending brings the reader back to square one, humorously leaving him or her with no apple pie, but with seeds to grow his own apples.
