Each letter of the alphabet is illustrated with a drawing by Zapf depicting a flower and various insects, with the name of the flower calligraphed by Zapf in a variety of styles.
Also with a calligraphed title-page and quotation from Goethe. The drawings were made by Zapf from 1943 to 1946 and were then cut in lead by Rodenberger. A few copies were printed in the late 40's, but it was not until 1962 that a complete edition was published by Otto Bickelhaupt. Very fine with green paper chemise. (21963) $950.00 |
