HERMANN ZAPF & AUGUST ROSENBERGER Das Blumen ABC (Frankfurt am Main, D. Stempel, 1962). Folio. (30) ff. unbound, as issued. Limited to 180 copies. Signed by Zapf on prefatory page. Each letter of the alphabet is illustrated with a drawing by Zapf depicting a flower and various insects, with the name of the flower calligraphed by Zapf in a variety of styles.
Also with a calligraphed title-page and quotation from Goethe. The drawings were made by Zapf from 1943 to 1946 and were then cut in lead by Rodenberger. A few copies were printed in the late 40's, but it was not until 1962 that a complete edition was published by Otto Bickelhaupt. Very fine with green paper chemise. (21963) $950.00 |
