[DOROTHY HUTTON]. Lines from 'The Passionate Shepherd'. (1959). Oblong 24mo. (5) ff. A hand-lettered and illustrated manuscript by the English calligrapher and artist Dorothy Hutton. Written in blue and black inks, with one gold-illuminated initial. Illustrated in the margins with small watercolor vignettes of birds and other wildlife.
Bound in marbled boards backed in leather. A lovely work, very fine.
Laid in are a two-page handwritten note from Dorothy Hutton to Stuart Schimmel of New York, the collector who purchased the book from Hutton, and a printed invitation card for an exhibition of Hutton's work at the Fine Art Society in London. (21929) $1500.00 |
