"Intimacy," featuring the work of Mary Heebner
Bromer Gallery is pleased to bring you “Intimacy,” an exhibition of Mary Heebner's original collages and book art. Heebner’s work explores the relationships between history, the natural world, and the human body. She practices an artistic archaeology, capturing the timeless, spiritual beauties of relics and landforms and recreating them in sensuous compositions. The mythological figures and landscapes, ranging from the Classical Mediterranean to the Hindu Puranas, tell their own stories through handmade papers, inks, paints, and poems, inviting nearness and familiarity, a knowing of history felt personally. Heebner’s Cassandra: A Poem and Intimacy: Drawing with Light, Drawn from Stone crown our collection of her art books, while three of her collage series—Veiled/Unveiled, The Venus Paintings, and Little Gems—line our walls with expressive forms both figural and material.
“Intimacy” will be up in Bromer Gallery through August 14th. We are pleased to be able to share the exhibit with you in person, by appointment, during our usual weekday business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Please call us at 617-247-2818 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a visit. We also invite you to explore the exhibition on our gallery website, where you will find images of every piece in the show, along with video introductions to Heebner's work, including an in-depth exploration of her books, a guided tour of her collages, and an interview with Heebner herself.
