(Haberly, Loyd)

Cymberina. An Unnatural History in Woodcuts and Verse.

Haberly, Loyd (illus.)

Lond Crendon, Bucks: Seven Acres Press, 1926. Quarto. 45pp. One of 600 copies. Signed by Haberly, and from the library of Haberly's wife, Virginia, with her bookplate to the front free endpaper. The second book of the Press. Illustrated throughout by Haberly with fantastical illustrations of beasts real, like the gopher and the pig, and mythical, like the camelope and the trinipim. Haberly's style of strong, rustic lines and heavy blacks reflects his education at the London Central School. Bound in black patterened paper with orange paper label and orange endpapers. Foxed throughout but faintly, with no impact on text or image. Edges fairly rubbed. A near fine copy of a whimsical production. Item #29243
