A handsome and exhaustive account of the publication of what is considered by many to be D. B. Updike's magnum opus, together with a vellum leaf from the original edition, which was underwritten by J. P. Morgan, Jr. The leaf, taken from the revision of the Standard Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church in America, contains a call-and-answer prayer of Confirmation. There is an additional leaf laid in, printed on paper and single-sided, with prayers for Holy Communion. Bound in linen boards with leather spine label, and housed in linen and paper slipcase. Fine, housed in mildly toned slipcase. Two invitations from The Typophiles, both from 1995, laid in. Item #29267
