This celebration of Werner's life and work is illustrated with a hand-colored portrait of the binder, drawn by Blinn, and six tipped-in color plates displaying twelve of his bindings. The text is a speech given by Werner at his first one-man show at Harvard University's Houghton Library in February of 1981, exploring his thoughts on hand bookbinding. Introduction by Blinn.
