Handmade miniature letters to Annabelle Grenier, sent by "Sparrow Post"

Tudor, Tasha (illus.)

(Marlboro, VT: Tasha Tudor, n.d.). Five handmade miniature letters sent to Annabelle Grenier, a doll under the care of Harry Davis. Dolls and their correspondence via Tudor's "Sparrow Post" nourished Davis and Tudor's long friendship, and the letters often relayed actual information between the two caretakers. These letters to Annabelle reflect that friendly thoughtfulness in design and execution; all feature illustrations (three printed in black-and-white and two rendered by hand in color) with sparrows, vegetation, and hearts at the forefront, and two of the three envelopes retain their original wax seals. Included is also an envelope large enough for the United States Postal Service, by which the letters made their way from Vermont to Virginia, though a drawing of an ambitious sparrow and "Sparrow Post" on the front mark the envelope's true purpose. All letters and envelopes intact and fine. (Letters measure approx. 1 1/2 by 1 in). Item #30118
