(Tudor, Tasha)

Miscellaneous handmade miniature letters, sent by "Sparrow Post"

Tudor, Tasha (illus.)

(Marlboro, VT: Tasha Tudor, n.d.). Six handmade miniature letters sent to a variety of recipients, including an early 1952 letter to Tudor's storied Shakespeare family in reference to an ad in "The Doll's Boutique," a mail-order company created by Tudor to serve her miniature world. Another letter is addressed to "My Dearest Sethany," a doll whose name is a portmanteau of "Seth" and "Bethany," the names of two of Tudor's children. The letters themselves are all carefully handwritten. Two feature a "Hitty" letterhead and minute drawings, one of a cat and one of an arrow-shot heart. The content of the letters speak to the love with which the dolls were crafted, acknowledging them as complex and content figures. Two of the letters retain their original envelopes, which bear wax seals. Some evidence of toning from age, else a worthy and fine swath from Tudor's "Sparrow Post." (Letters measure approx. 1 1/2 by 1 in). Item #30119
