New Haven: Babcock, Sidney, 1834. 24mo. 36pp. A chapbook illustrated with thirteen wood engravings, including a full-page frontispiece of a mother reading with two children and a title-page vignette. A collection of Mrs. Barbauld's hymns interpreted in prose form. Barbauld was a poet and the author of several children's books. She ran a boarding school with her husband, a minister, for several years and drew on this experience in creating educational and devotional works for children. Some slight chipping to paper covering the spine and some light foxing to contents, else fine in tan pictorial paper-covered boards. On the rear cover is a list of "Juvenile Books, embellished with elegant engravings" by the publisher. Item #24589
