A Blind Alphabet.

Moore, Suzanne (illus.)

(Northampton, MA): Cheloniidae Press, 1986. 12mo. (34)pp., accordionfold. From an edition of 200 copies, this is a unique artist's copy, hand-colored and signed by Suzanne Moore. Calligraphic letters, designed by Moore, are blind-stamped one to a page of this lovely fold-out panorama. To this copy, Moore has added the text of the Mother Goose alphabet beginning "A was an apple pie," hand-calligraphed with colorful capitals. The blind-stamped letters are highlighted with faint blushes of color to match. Moore penned "and a Mother Goose alphabet" below the title on the title page and wrote in pencil on the colophon: "artists copy with the tragical death of A, Apple Pie, who was cut into pieces and eaten." Bound in red cloth with a yellow paper chemise tied round with a yellow ribbon; housed in a gray clamshell box with a leather label to the spine. Very fine. (Binding measures 5 by 3 3/4 inches [127x95mm], and pages fold out to over seven feet long [213cm]). Item #26660
