"Wir treiben's bunt!"

Raasch, Klaus (illus.)

1993. Broadside measuring 19 1/2 by 27 1/2 inches. Original lithograph printed in five colors, and signed by the designer, Klaus Raasch. The broadside shows the words "Wir treiben's bunt!" ("We're doing it all!") under which five creatures work together to roll ink onto a printing plate. This image was used in an announcement for an exhibition held by the Hamburger Buchdruckwerkstatt Schwarze Kunst, a book arts organization co-founded by Raasch, in 1993. However, the exhibition details are not present in this version of the lithograph, and the text is in a different color, suggesting that this broadside was printed separately. "Wir treiben's bunt!" later became the motto of the Norddeutsche Handpressenmesse, an artist's book fair in Hamburg, Germany, run by BuchDruckKunst eV. Raasch designed posters, fliers, and other materials for the exhibition since its start in 1998 and is currently involved in the planning and organization of BuchDruckKunst. Faint creases to edges, else fine. Item #27344
