French Illuminated Manuscripts with an Original Leaf from a Miniature Book of Hours.

San Francisco: Grabhorn Press for David Magee, 1958. Octavo. 30pp. One of 200 copies printed for David Magee at the Grabhorn Press. This original leaf from a Book of Hours was likely written and illuminated in Paris during the first portion of the fifteenth century. It bears four initials accented in gold on the recto, and five on the verso. On the following page is a reproduction of The Coronation of the Virgin, redrawn and hand-colored by Mary Grabhorn. H. C. Schulz offers a history of French illumination in the accommpanying text. Bound in quarter parchment and printed paper over boards, title gilt-stamped on spine. Faint toning to front paste-down, as usual, else fine. Bookplate. Item #27649
