San Francisco: Grabhorn Press, 1938. Quarto. 53pp. One of 297 copies printed for the Book Club of California by Edwin and Robert Grabhorn. Tipped-in is a leaf from the Polycronicon, with a rubricated initial on the recto and verso. It contains a passage on the campaigns of Cyrus the Great and his son and successor Cambyses. Accompanying text is The Life and Works of William Caxton, with an historical reminder of fifteenth century England by Benjamin P. Kurtz, together with a note on the Polycronicon by Oscar Lewis and an appreciation of William Caxton by Edwin Grabhorn. Very fine in quarter cloth and printed henna boards, which display Caxton's well-known printer's device, with paper label to spine. Bookplate on front paste-down affixed over another bookplate.
