Dean's Child's Delights: Laughable Lines about Particular People.

(London): Dean & Son, (1860). Octavo. (6)ff. A collection of hand-colored engravings accompanied by rhyming stories about fictional people. Each story adopts a humorous tone, though some also bear moral lessons. Throughout its nineteenth-century lifespan, the publishing firm of Dean and Son specialized in innovative printing processes used in the creation of children's materials. Particular contributions included lithographic printing, pop-up elements, and other moveable features. This present volume's illustrations exemplify the same precision featured in other Dean publications. The hand-coloring is professionally done and features a color palette uncommonly broad for a children's book. Bound in paper wrappers, with previous owner's signature on front. Front cover detached, pages lightly foxed, and minor wear and soiling to extremities. A good copy of a book that would have been heavily used. Item #27705
