The Flock of Sheep; Or, Familiar Explanations of Simple Facts.

New Haven: S. Babcock, 1840. 32mo. 16pp. A moral chapbook with many engraved illustrations throughout. The titular explanations are told from a mother to her daughter. They primarily deal with the origins and uses of various textiles, but by the end of the story they encompass all living things designed for human use. As with many chapbooks, this volume presents a rationale for the ways of God, encouraging its young reader to appreciate all the gifts God has granted to humankind. In green wrappers, with some foxing to text block, and remarkably scant wear to extremities for a book not designed for durability, very fine. Item #27759
