Children's History of Beasts.

(Sandbornton, NH): Sandbornton Press, 1835. 48mo. 16pp. Eleven woodcut illustrations of animals, accompanying descriptions of each. The animals presented include a monkey, spaniel, and walrus. Each description provides information on the animal's physical characteristics and behavioral habits. Some, as in the case of the ass, add mentions of the animal's uses for humans. Others, like those of the wolf and the elk, consider the animal's geographic location or, in the case of the bull, provide some historical context. Foxing throughout, with some staining to covers, spine repaired, else a very good copy of an extremely rare New Hampshire imprint. Item #27910
