Regelmatige Vlakverdeling (Regular Division of the Plane).

Utrecht: 1958. Quarto. 45, (iii)pp. One of 175 numbered copies. With six black-and-white engravings, with an extra suite of the engravings in sanguine secured by a cloth band on the inside back cover. Maurits Cornelius Escher (1898-1972) was a Dutch graphic artist who challenged the bounds of printmaking. His prints often focused on the transformations of objects or patterns into different objects or patterns, while others altered the preconceived perspectives of physical reality. The text of the present title is chiefly concerned with the methods by which he achieved these effects. In publisher's linen-backed boards with an Escher pattern. Very scant edgewear, else a fine copy. Signature of former owner on front flyleaf. Item #28057
