The Tempest.

Canton, NY: Caliban Press, 2001. Quarto. 117pp. One of 125 copies. Printed on handmade papers by Velma Bolyard, La Papeterie St-Armand, and Barcham Green, along with Arches, Frankfurt, and Mexican amate papers. Set in fourteen-point Dante type by M & W Bixler, and rain cut by Greg Lago. The book, designed and printed by Mark McMurray, is a multimedia experience of Shakespeare's final and perhaps most fantastical work. As the reader encounters the various papers, he or she also discovers woodcuts, gatefolds, onlays, and pop-ups, thus mirroring the characters' own puzzled journey through Prospero's mystical island. Bound in purple papers with a circular cut-out for the title and a purple morocco spine. Fine. Housed in handmade paper box with paper onlay of a crowned man. Box shows some shelf toning, else sturdy and near fine. Prospectus laid in. Item #28294
