Beyond Words.
NY: American Jewish Historical Society, 2001. Small quarto. 60pp., + sixteen plates housed in separate sleeve. One of 600 copies. Adler's sixteen woodcuts, crafted in the immediate aftermath of the Holocaust, offer a harrowing and personal look at life and death inside the Nazi camps. The darkness of the images is overwhelming, and leaves the viewer with foreboding and despair that is, as the title indicates, beyond words. The images are first presented with Touster's Introduction and Commentary in a booklet, and then allowed to speak for themselves as individual sheets. Housed in a hand-made double-pocket portfolio. Fine, with few bumps and tear to hinge of front flap of dust wrapper of booklet. Prospectus laid in. Item #28799
Price: $250.00
