(Breed & Lent)

Daisy No. 1.

Buffalo: Breed & Lent, (c. 1866). 64pp. The first book in Frances Elizabeth Barrow's smallest and rarest series of Aunt Fanny books, focused on the adventures of two cats, Daisy and Dot, and their owners. Barrow, through Breed and Butler, published four other sets of six books under the pen-names Aunt Fanny and Aunt Laura; but in the Daisy & Dot series, Barrow finds her full potential as a storyteller and the press cements its niche in miniature books. Bound in green cloth, heavily ornamented in gilt. Split to inner hinge, else very good. A.e.g. (MBC I: 6,8-9; II: 60-61; Welsh 408). (1 1/4 by 1; 33x25mm). Item #30384
