(Hammersmith: Kelmscott Press, 1897). Quarto. xipp., 23ff.,14pp. One of 225 copies, printed in red and black. Edited and with a Foreword by Sydney Cockerell. This copy is signed by Cockerell beneath his printed name in the Foreword. Contains reproductions of 35 woodcuts from German incunabula in the library of William Morris, whose article "On the Artistic Qualities of Woodcut Books Produced at Ulm and Augsburg in the Fifteenth Century" is used as a Preface. Twenty-nine of the facsimile blocks had already been made for a catalogue of his library, which William Morris was unable to complete. This volume lists the most important incunabula in his collection and gives a detailed analysis of the various woodcuts in the 1493 edition of the Nuremberg Chronicle. Corners very slightly bumped with a little rubbing, else fine in linen-backed blue boards. Item #30490
