A Fowl Letter Book. Together with: A Poultry Piece, Being a Discourse on the Joys of Raising Ducks and Geese.

Blinn, Carol J. (illus.)

Easthampton, MA: Warwick Press, 1989; 1978. One12mo. volume and one small 8vo volume. (68); 12pp. A Fowl Letter Book is one of 225 copies signed by the author/artist/printer, Carol J. Blinn. A Poultry Piece is one of 250 copies, likewise signed by Blinn, with four hand-watercolored line illustrations. The pair exemplify Blinn's whimsical adoration of ducks and fowl, the former volume being, as Théophile Homard states in the Foreword, the first abeduckarium, with each letter illustrated by a situation or object accompanied by a yellow-billed (hand-colored) duck. The latter is a more personal look at the domestic triumphs and strifes brought by living among fowl, similarly illustrated with the creatures in question. A Fowl Letter Book is bound in decorative black and white paper over boards and shows mild rubbing to lower edges, else fine. A Poultry Piece bound in blue and yellow paste paper (created by Blinn) over boards with gilt spine titling, likewise fine. Prospectuses for both laid in, along with a catalog of leftover Warwick publications. Item #30681
