The Space Child's Mother Goose.

Parry, Marian (illus.)

NY: Simon and Schuster, 1958. First edition. Inscribed by the artist, Marian Parry, at the front flyleaf. Parry's many line drawings bring whimsy to Winsor's equally fantastical, intergalactic takes on classic Mother Goose tales. For example, Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, and "the radar has failed to find them," Jack Spratt has found new employment as a "Commissariat," and Little Jack Horner "sits in a corner / extracting cube roots to infinity." Bound in cloth-covered boards with one of Parry's illustrations stamped in silver to upper cover. A fine copy with pictorial dust wrapper, which shows minor foxing to flaps, else fine. Label from previous owner to front pastedown. Prospectus laid in, along with folded poster advertising an exhibit of Parry's work at the Radcliffe Institute. Item #30957

Price: $350.00
