Frontispiece engravings preface both volumes, the first of which discusses the history of Aesop's Fables, and the latter of which contains the text, after William Caxton's edition of 1483. Both bound in plain wrappers with jackets printed with title and an image of a scholarly, booted cat. Some foxing to outer leaves, spines toned, some cosmetic edgewear, occasional uncut gatherings, else very good. Housed in custom clamshell box. Item #31030
