The Floral Alphabet.
(N.p. c. 1845). Set of twenty-six cards, each of which has been printed with a lithograph of a flower according to each letter of the alphabet. The set encodes an interdisciplinary course of learning, probably for a young girl, teaching her the English alphabet along with the identification of common flowers, from the anemone to the zinnia. Seventeen of the cards have been hand-colored. Housed in their original box, which is covered in decorative paper and features the lithograph of the geranium card on the lid. Dampstaining and expert repair to box, else near fine. (Cards measure 4 3/8 by 2 15/16 in.; 112x76 mm). Item #31346
