Weier, Debra (illus.)

Easthampton, MA: Emanon Press, 1981. The poetry of Neruda is illustrated by Debra Weier with delicate, intricate, abstract etchings, with skillfully incorporated elements of collage, ragged-edged paper overlays, and two pop-ups. Each poem, printed in two languages, is an ode to the sky and earth and is keyed to a particular color used in the illustrations. Extremely fine in publisher's designer binding by Gray Parrot of tan paper over boards with brown morocco edges. The image of a gold stone being hurled skyward from a free-flowing blue line, over a subtle mountain skyline spans both covers.

Quarto. (42)pp. One of 60 copies signed by Ben Belitt and by the printers, Debra Weier and Bill Bridgers. A mint copy, with original plain dust wrapper, clamshell box and prospectus. This is the third book of the Press, its magnum opus, and a really fine example of contemporary American book production. The fine finish of the work is matched by the innovative use of the materials. Item #31528
