A Distinguished Family of French Printers of the Sixteenth Century: Henri & Robert Estienne.

London: Linotype & Machinery Ltd., 1929. Quarto. (12)pp. One of 100 copies, printed in London by George W. Jones. Frontispiece portrait of Robert Estienne originally executed by Henrik Hondius in 1573. The remaining ornaments—printer's devices on the title and last pages, a headpiece, and three initials—have been reproduced from the original woodcuts published in Robert Estienne's 1548 "De Graece." These decorate a brief but studious summary on the printing career of Henri Estienne and his successors, whose printing business began in 1502. Pages bear rules in brown. Volume bound in quarter vellum with gilt rules and gilt spine title. Covers of marbled paper. Mild rubbing to corners, some sullying to vellum, else near fine. Item #31735
