Scripps' work marked the first personal history of Lincoln, and is here edited by Scripps' daughter Grace Locke Scripps Dyche. Laid in is a carbon typed letter, signed by George Booth, on Cranbrook Stationery. Dated November 22, 1901, the letter announces a price increase on Cranbrook's backlist. Bound in three-quarter vellum with brown paper over boards, leather lettering piece on spine, and imprint stamped in gilt on lower spine. Minor abrasion to lettering piece, else about fine.
