Spirit That Formed This Scene.
Ogdensburg, NY: Caliban Press, 2010 (but 2022). 16mo. (7)pp., accordionfold. One of fifty copies, completed in conjunction with Floating World Press. Signed by the printer, Mark Murray. Caliban Press's ever-resourceful paperwork here represents the topography of a mountain range spread of the long landscape of the accordion. Printed along the "foothills" is Walt Whitman's poetic comparison of his verse to the Colorado mountains, the red sandstone of which, here replicated in paper, amazed him. The poem first appeared in the 1881 (7th) edition of Leaves of Grass. Bound gray wrappers covered with orange paper, marbled paper circle onlaid to upper cover. Fine, in slipcase. Prospectus laid in.
