Modèles de Lettres Modernes.
Dourdan: Émile Thézard et Fils, (c. 1925). Folio. Title leaf + 24 plates. A particularly Art Deco installment in Thézard's series Bibliothéque du Peintre en Bâtiment, in which the architectural and interior designer Georges Léculier promotes an impressive array of highly stylized alphabets. The publisher and artist's architectural associations, as well as the express purpose of the series, indicate that these letterforms were meant for exterior signage, whether for buildings, storefronts, or advertising. The plates are impressively printed, with sharp color registrations and neat lines, as appropriate for the high Modernism of the typography. Sheets held loose in cloth-backed porfolio. Some toning and infrequent foxing, unobtrusive to the prints. Light rubbing and soiling to portfolio, else a fine and rather rare item. Item #32226
