Prairie Feathers.

Hildreth, Don (illus.)

(San Diego): Ash Ranch Press, (1988). 27pp. One of twenty-six deluxe lettered copies with a beaded cover. According to Bradbury, Don Hildreth, the publisher behind the Ash Ranch Press, was "a talented practitioner of the book arts" who designed, handset type, illustrated, letterpress printed, and bound his books. All of the paper used is also handmade. The text is excerpted from the 1931 book "Old Mother Mexico," and is accompanied by a frontispiece with a three-color copper engraved halftone illustration of a Native American from an unknown book. Bound in full light brown suede, with the title and author stamped in green on the spine and along the edge of the front cover, and a beaded plaque with a geometric design in six colors on the front cover. Housed in a tan slipcase, gilt-titled to spine. Slipcase enclosed in likely original plastic sleeve which has the copy letter on a circular label on the spine. A very fine copy overall. (Bradbury p.12). (2 1/2 by 1 3/4; 62x45mm). Item #32919
