Der Winzige Struwwelpeter (The Somersault Book).

Massmann, Ernest C. (illus.)

New Britain, CT: Massmann, Robert E., 1982. 12pp. One of 300 copies printed at Art Press. Signed by the illustrator Ernest Massmann, whose charming color illustrations depict the slovenly, tumbling Struwwelpeter, a popular German children's book character on whom Twain may have modeled his own Huck Finn. Printed with somersaulting text so that the book must be rotated to be read. Photograph of a miniature Struwwelpeter tipped-in on verso of title-page. Bound in green leatherette with illustrated paper label on front cover. Title printed in German on the slipcase, in English on the book itself. Extremely fine in orange paper slipcase, also with label. (1 15/16 by 2; 49x50mm). Item #33023
