Designed by California artist David Lance Goines and printed in 8 colors, this advertisement for Karl Kardel Co. features a bumblebee over an ochre background. The design was inspired by an unknown philosopher's take on Isaac Watts, "How doth the little busy bee improve each shining hour? Well, how doth it indeed? By working. All things cometh to him that waiteth, providing he worketh like hell while he waiteth." The image appeared in several publications, including Print (September/October 1974) and Images of an Era: The American Poster, 1945-1975 (Smithsonian Institution, 1975).
